In Celebration We Rise Up
by Maureen MarshWhen I fell in love with you
I wanted the world to know
That this was it, let the music play
This love will grow and grow
Let’s mark it with a ritual, a Celebration, a day that shines
Some moments we can capture and hold
In our hearts for all of time
When I had our child with you
I wanted the world to know
That the fruit of our love
Was beauty defined
A blessing, a joyous glow
I wanted to mark this time
With a ritual, a glorious day
To capture these moments, these times
And be able again to replay
When I lost you my love
The world dissolved
I wanted to retreat
But the world called me out for a last adieu
To express what you meant to me
To mark your time in this world, this life
The beauty you left behind
And every tear reminds me of you
How lovely, how unique, how kind
There is comfort in marking our lives
In saying it mattered, the love that we shared
In being with family and friends
And knowing that we cared
In Celebration we rise up to something
Bigger, higher and more profound
Through Celebration we rise up
With our love, to higher ground

The Art of Marriage
by Wilfred Arlan PetersonHappiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In the art of marriage the little things are the big things…
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
The courtship should not end with the honeymoon, it should continue through all the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude
of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.
It is speaking words of appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.
It is discovering what marriage can be, at its best.

Two Become Three
by Author UnknownThere once was a girl and that girl met a boy
They found living life as two was a life filled with joy
These two happy lovebirds, this couple, this pair
Were snug in their nest, but they thought it quite bare
So they cuddled up closer, made room for three in their tree
And their joy overflowed when two became three
Before I Knew Your Name
by Bob CarlisleBefore I knew your name,
Before I saw your chin and your nose,
Before I counted your fingers and toes,
I asked heaven for someone as wonderful as you,
And every prayer and wish came true.
I dreamed of you…
Before I knew your name.
The Map of Life
by UnknownYour map of life is open and spread before you,
Your longitude and latitude lines are drawn,
The compass is placed at the centre,
Now, which direction will you take, are you torn –
Between direction that measures success in possessions,
A pathway that leads into the world,
Or a heavenly form of ascension
That lets you live as your beliefs come unfurled.
We’re brought onto this Earth without knowledge,
But our lives have innumerable choices ahead.
Our decided route of travel is partly our own
And partly in a direction we’re led –
By a greater force who has gently pointed,
A way between His plan and your life’s choice.
He who always lets you express your own thoughts
He who has given you voice.
Your map of life was an atlas,
A book of varying routes to your God.
With hills, valleys, oceans and mountains,
A trail that forever you’ll happily plod.
Keep your beliefs on that pathway,
To feel His love always around,
From up in the Heavens with angels,
To humanity here on the ground.
